Results from the NJ Middle School Survey are used to help communities plan and implement meaningful prevention and education programs at the state and local levels, and inform NJ State investments in prevention initiatives.

No reports of findings identify participating school districts, schools, classes, or students by name. Only county- and state-level results are available online. No school-level data will be made available publicly.

Statewide Reports

The Statewide Reports present key findings regarding students’ self-reported use of alcohol, marijuana, and other substances; engagement in antisocial behaviors, including gambling; and responses on a standard battery of risk and protective factors. They also include results from new questions on issues of increasing relevance, including mental health. The highlighted findings provide insights into the well-being of middle school students in NJ and which groups of students may be at higher risk of negative outcomes.
